Ecological Project Design

  • Very small addition (less than 80-square feet) to improve layout and function.

Mindful Materials Handling

  • Recycling
    • Cardboard, metal, paper and wood were recycled during project construction.
  • Salvaging
    • Interior paneling and framing was reclaimed from home and re-milled for other projects.

Sustainable Materials Integration

  • Framing material was mixture of FSC-certified and reclaimed lumber.
  • Exterior doors and windows were fabricated from reclaimed lumber purchased from Arborica/Evan Shively.
  • Interior doors were fabricated from reclaimed lumber purchased from Arborica/Evan Shively.
  • Interior Douglas fir paneling was salvaged material from EarthSource.

Carbon Footprint Reduction

  • Existing 1950's appliances replaced with new ENERGY STAR appliances.
  • New insulation added to open areas of structure during course of work.

Healthy Interiors

  • UltraTouch Cotton insulation was used in floors, ceilings and walls.
